I was on holiday when I set the first challenge and thought I would comment on both August challenges together when I got home. However, Blogger, Firefox or my lap top have other ideas and won't let me make comments on the majority of blogs, it won't even let me log in to the comments section on RD's blog :( As soon as I get it sorted I will be round to make my comments, I promise.

Sadly we're saying goodbye!

Sadly I've made the difficult decision to cease Rosie D's Challenge Blog due to family & new work commitments which seem to have stolen pretty much all of my free time recently. My DT have recently been running the challenge blog for me and I simply cannot allow it to continue this way, as in my eyes, that's just not fair on them.

We have been going for almost 2 years now and it's been such a wonderful time. I have had awsome Design Team members and they have produced fantastic projects to share and inspire you all. We have grown from nothing to an amazing 276 followers with around 150 participants into the challenges each time. A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY DT AND EVERYONE OUT THERE THAT HAS TAKEN PART WITH US FOR YOUR DEDICATION, SUPPORT AND INSPIRING CREATIONS. It could not have been done without you all.

I hope you had fun joining us each fortnight. We have truly enjoyed your sharing your creations.

Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to Tracy for the brilliant challenges she came up with for the month of July and also to all of you for taking part, you have been brilliant.

This month it is my turn (Jackie) to set the challenges. My first one is "More than one fold" however if possible I would like something a bit more challenging than an easel card. I love making them as much as everyone but decided for this challenge I would make a card with six folds!!! so I made a tri shutter card.

I will be offering a couple of prizes this month but will do it at the end the end of the month from a combination of both challenges.

Introducing the new DT....

Well, it was such a hard decision you all faced us with when you applied to be part of the DT here on Rosie D's. We had such a difficult time choosing new members, but we did it! If you click on their names in RED it'll take you to their blogs too. Please go and leave them your congratulations on making the team, won't you?

Along with these two previous DT members who were with us for a fixed term last year that I'm really pleased have agreed to rejoin the team.

Lyn:

BIO........ widowed mum of 3..son of 30, twin girls of 4, I care 24/7 for my grandparents. I'm a life long crafter, love watercolours and darker art.

Chuffed to be back at Rosiedees!.

Jackie: Like many crafters I started at the age of about 4 or 5 when my grandmother taught me to knit. Later I learned to sew and I used to make my own dolls clothes! I progressed to making my own clothes through taking needlework at school then cross stitch but always fell back on knitting. I eventually went on to knit samples for Edina Ronay and Sirdar. (For those old enough to remember, Selina Scott wore one of my sweaters on The Clothes Show). About five and a half years ago I decided to make some cards for hubby to give to clients... (he’s a part time DJ) and the rest, as they say, is history. I went on to start making wedding stationery and started my own company, Party Nights Creations. I love rubber stamping as I am not in the least bit artistic (unless stick men count) I also love ribbon and simple uncluttered work. I dabble with beads too and love Swarovski crystals. I found out just before Christmas that I'm one of nine runners up in the Papercrafter of the Year run by Papercraft Essentials craft mag. I have also been a guest designer on a couple of blogs this year which is lovely. I would really love to be a permanent free lance designer for mags etc. ...it doesn’t hurt to dream! I am so excited about having been asked to re-join Rosie-Dee’s design team. I thought I had the perfect job before but it has definitely got better.

I have been married for 15 years this coming March to my best friend, we have three lovely children ages 3, 11 and 14. I'm also kept busy with 2 dogs, a cat, a rabbit and a guinea pig. I have been blogging since February 2009, and met some wonderful crafters. I love stamping, my favourite stamps are Penny Black, Sarah Kay and Lili Of The Valley (new ranges). I love trying new techniques and use H20's and Distress Inks to colour with.

I'm Polish but now living in the UK. I live with Zibby. He is my partner, my best Friend...the best man all over the world ;) We have two dogs - beagle girls. Velvet - she is 11 years old and Kali - she is 1 year old.

I stay at home. Still learning English and thinking about second faculty, this time in England.

I have been card maker for about 8 months. This is amazing world. I met fantastic people and learnt something new. I hope it is the beginning of my long journey.

Hello! My name is Mervi and I live in Lahti, Southern Finland, with my husband and daughter (15 years old).
I've done papercrafting, sewing, crocheting, painting, tuning - but cardmaking took my heart and time two years ago. I do like all kinds of materials, new stuff, but I also use recycled ones. I like to try new techniques - my style varies as my mind!!! Blogging all over the cardmaking world and meeting crafting friends has brought so much fun and joy and courage to my hobby.
I'm addicted to the challenges and this is my first DT- membership, so I'm looking forward full of zest to the Rosie D's challenges and hope to get more friends from Scandinavia to participate with us;-))

Unfortunately our lovely Karen is leaving us this month and she will be very sadly missed indeed by all those who admire her work.

I'd like to say a very public, HUGE THANK YOU to you Karen for all your help and creativity over these past few months, please come back and play along when you can.

So, with the impending vacancy for a DT member, I'd like to ask the crafting community to dust off their stash, declutter their heads from the Christmas food and festivities and show us your application creations.

I'd like to see a 'NEW YEAR CARD' and a piece of altered art please. All submissions must be for this DT call only and not part of a challenge. Multiple entries will be excluded.

I'd like to get this sorted fairly quickly so I'm asking for submissions to be made by 5pm (GMT) Saturday 2nd January. I'll then offer the place (or places if you are all far too good to choose between) on Sunday 3rd January 2010.

There have been some big changes here this week.

Deanne and myself set the challenge blog up a year ago, but sadly Dee's decided to go her own way and follow different craft opportunities for which I wish her the greatest sucess. Thanks to her for being a fab challenge partner!

We are also going FORTNIGHTLY from this week's challenge. I appreciate that there are so many challenges out there that demand more and more of our time, so in consideration of this, I will set a new challenge every two weeks.

The other change is that you'll remember we appointed an awsome DT to be with us from July to September inclusive. Prior to Dee leaving, we'd discussed lots of things and had decided to keep four of the ladies on the team... as you can imagine this was the most difficult of tasks to agree on. As a result the four ladies that will be staying with the Challenge Blog for now are Saskia, Karen, Brenda and Jo.

I really cannot say thank you enough to Lyn, Jackie, Kaz and Gez for all their support and fantastic work that they've produced over the last 3 months.

Lyn is staying with us for October as a Guest Designer and hopefully the other ladies will join me and the team for a month each too.

Hello everyone, from a very hot and sunny United Kingdom!!! Our summer seems to be starting off on a hot one. While that's good for some, for others a little breeze and some fresh air would be nice.

Our chosen theme this month is OCCASIONS. As usual the first challenge of the month is a sketch and it's here...

Saskia: I’m Saskia, 39 years, married with Luc. We have one adorable son, Robbe (9 years). Since 2 years, I’m a stay-at-home-mum. So happy I have the chance to spend a lot of time with my household! Once a week, I help at school with reading-lessons. Reading, cooking, crafting, meeting friends,… don’t have enough time to do all these things I love!! I live in Reet, a small village near Antwerp, in Belgium. Since ever, I love to craft!! But I started making cards about 2 years ago. Cards with 3d-figures. A few months ago, I discovered some lovely stamps and Derwent-pencils!! And at January, I started my blog. I already learned a lot about card-making!! Using a sketch, using new colours,… so fun! ‘Cute’ things are my favourite! I also love to work with felt and fabric! Since I’m blogging, I met a lot of lovely people!! From all over the world… but also close to home!

Lyn: A little info on me....widowed mum of 3, my son will be 30 soon, my twin girls were 4 last week. The girls and I live with my grandparents; grandad has dementia, nan is wheelchair bound, unable to weigh-bare...I am their 24 hr carer but I do have a brilliant carer who comes every day to help... and craft with me after everyones in bed. I'm 39...yeah right!!!! Well that's what I tell everyone... and have been 'crafty' all my life, my nan still has the card I made her when I was 8.... wanna see it? I haven't improved much. I love water colours... and still try to paint when I get the chance, I also love to draw. I love all the challenges I've discovered on the www and have been blogging since the 17th May this year. This is my 1st DT, I'm so chuffed I could burst.

Karen: Hello there! My name is KAREN and I am lucky enough to live in Cornwall with my lovely husband Jeremy and our four daft cats. I first started crafting when I was six and my Mother taught me how to use her beloved sewing machine. She loved to craft and so we went on a journey together learning all sorts of crafty techniques! But I remember most of all my Gran teaching me to crochet and form patchwork. For a few years I worked as an independent seamstress until my daughter came along. Its a bit hard to be doing so much sewing with a little one around!!!!! Nowadays I love paper craft in all its forms and am so lucky that my lovely hubby set up a craft room for me! I have a great love of stamping and also if anything stays still long enough it gets altered haha Its a real pleasure to be a part of Rosie-Dee's Design Team and I look forward to all the challenges they throw at me!!!

Jackie: Like many crafters I started at the age of about 4 or 5 when my grandmother taught me to knit. Later I learned to sew and I used to make my own dolls clothes! I progressed to making my own clothes through taking needlework at school then cross stitch but always fell back on knitting. I eventually went on to knit samples for Edina Ronay and Sirdar. (For those old enough to remember, Selina Scott wore one of my sweaters on The Clothes Show). About five and a half years ago I decided to make some cards for hubby to give to clients …… he’s a part time DJ, and the rest, as they say, is history. I went on to start making wedding stationery and started my own company, Party Nights Creations. I love rubber stamping as I am not in the least bit artistic (unless stick men count I also love ribbon and simple uncluttered work. I really enjoy scrap booking too (and buying goodies) and use this as one of my methods of relaxation. I dabble with beads too and love Swarovski crystals. I was lucky enough to have my first commission published last year, an eight page spread on wedding stationery and cards in Papercraft Essentials. I have also been guest designer on a couple of blogs this year which is lovely. I’ve been runner up in a couple of national card making competitions too. I would really love to be a permanent free lance designer for mags etc……it doesn’t hurt to dream! I am so excited about having been asked to join Rosie-Dee’s design team. I thought I had the perfect job before but it has definitely got better.

Brenda: I have always crafted in one way or another, have been cardmaking for about five years and am fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion with others through teaching and demonstrating. I have an inbuilt love of nature, animals and colour which I find translates into my artwork as a matter of normality. I am married with four children, numerous animals, live deep in the Fens of East Anglia and spend far too many hours hidden in my craft room.

Kaz: Hi I'm Kaz and I live by the sea in Kent. I've had ME since 1999 and, unfortunately, haven't been well enough to work since. I started making cards in 2002 out of a need to find a hobby and to help myself as I was struggling to get out to the shops to buy greetings cards. It all just snowballed from there! I'm lucky as I live by myself now so I can leave everything out without getting in anybody's way and, believe me, it is everywhere! I have expanded to other papercrafts (but not scrapping), sewing and even knitting (mostly monkeys) so my family and friends get bombarded with homemade gifts for their birthdays and Christmas. I think crafting has helped me to cope with being unwell for so long, along with giving me a whole bunch of new friends. I'm looking forward to the weekly challenges here on Rosie-Dee's.

Gez: Hi my name is Geraldine but I am known in blogland as Gez! much easier to type! I live with my husband Mark and 3 children. We live in the North West of England. I have always been interested in crafts since as long as I can remember. I self taught myself to knit at 14 & love a new technique or challenge. Crafting keeps me sane while all around me chaos reigns! I am looking forward to being part of the Rosie & Dee Design Team for the next 3 months & grateful to Rosie & Dee for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

Jo: I've been crafting for over 20 years, and have managed to make it my job after many years of crafting. I am a freelance designer with a few major craft companies, and often have work featured in magasines. I love all types of cardmaking and papercrafting, from parchment craft to scrapbooking. I've also been on tele! My half hour of fame goes out most months over on Create and Craft! In between crafting, I also do photography. I had my own wedding photography business until around two years ago when I decided to devote more time to crafting. I also have three spaniels - two springers and a cocker, which are great to scrapbook about and they also make an appearance on my blog from time to time!

Hello everyone, Rosie & Deanne here and we've a favour to ask the crafting world...

We're looking for some talented peeps to join us at Rosie-Dee's as Design Team Members. What you have to do to apply for one of up to 6 DT positions is to follow the theme of this week's challenge no.39 on Sunday 14th June 2009, upload it onto your blog (or email us with your creation) and then leave us a comment so that we can come and admire what you've made. Applications are welcome from the UK and overseas.

The DT position is initially for 3 months, from July to September 2009 inclusive. Unfortunately at this time there is no financial compensation for the position. We are hoping to secure sponsors for our challenges though.

Details of each months challenges will be forwarded to you by mid month prior to the month of the challenges going live to give you plenty of time to get them done.

Challenges MUST be emailed back by no later than the Friday prior to the challenge going live on the Sunday.

This month we're having a bit of a Colour Combo month. Every week we'll be giving you a different combo to work with to see what you can create. It can be a LO a card or something altered. The choice is yours!

Week 37 - Triple Embossing

Evening all, sorry I'm late, been busy, busy, busy! HEHE!!!

It's my turn this week to set the challenge and I've challenged Deanne to do a little bit of Triple Embossing.

My Take

I stamped into some melted Debbi Moore Metal Magic last week which gives the effect of triple embossing. This week I chose to stamp a greeting with Stazon and then TRIPLE EMBOSS with normal embossing powder to give it a smooth, glazed look. I hope Dad likes it!

Challenge 34 - Magnolia

Hi everyone, Deanne here with this week's challenge.

As your aware May is the month of stamping, and I've chosen a real 'marmite moment' for Rosie, she has a fear of these gorgeous magnolia stamps ;) but I love them and I know so many others do also.

So this week your challenge is to use a magnolia stamp :) any, it doesnt matter which.

Now for some reason I couldnt find any of mine (even though I managed to find one for Rosie) so I've opted for this

Challenge 32 - Peel offs!

Hi all, Deanne here. Hope the sun has shone on your weekend. I'm uploading by schedule today as I'm at Delapre Abbey doing a craft fair.

The challenge this week is for you to us a peel off on your submission. Lots of people started off useing peel offs in their early projects. Many people moved away as their tastes changed, many still love and use them. Are peel-offs your Marmite moment? We'd love to know.

Challenge 31 - St .George

It's my turn to set the challenge this week. Being an English girl I decided that it had to be none other than St. George - the Patron Saint of England, and also of the Scouting movement. We celebrate St. George's day on 23rd April each year - a day that also happens to be my dad's birthday.

St. George's day is actually celebrated in a many countries from Catalonia to some of the Balic countries and Lebanon.

The history is of St. George slaying the dragon because it terrorised a village. A young princess was offered to the dragon to save the village. Upon hearing of this tragic offering, St. George rode to the village to slay the dragon and save the beautiful princess.

Hello, only me! Here this Sunday evening to set the challenge. I have to say that, looking out of my craft studio window, it's still light outside...! How fantastic is that?! Spring is definitely on it's way, my daffodil bulbs have started to sprout their green leaves above ground, ready to display their golden trumpets to the world.

If Spring is on it's way, then it must be getting near to Mothers' day, so with that in mind, I'd like you to show us something to celebrate a special lady in your life. This doesn't have to be a mum as I know there are far too many out there that miss that most special lady in their lives (My DH included). As long as the card is for a lady - friend, daughter, sister, then your creation will qualify.

Hi Everyone, hope you all had a great week. Today I'm wondering what do certain colours mean to you! Does a specific colour set a memory off?

When I was pregnant with my 2nd baby, everyone was adamant it was a girl; now I'm not a girlie girl at all, practically hate the colour Pink! So when Riley was born, I had a huge smile on my face and thought yay no pink :) but ever since I now crave the colour pink, I love it! Odd eh..

So my challenge this week is the colour Pink, cant wait to see what pink means to you.

Week 23 - Rosie's Challenge

Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by our challenge blog. It's my turn to set the challenge this week for you so I'd like you to show us your wonders in watercolour if we may?!

My personal favourite water colour pencils are Aquatone from Derwent. Unlike very many watercolour pencils out there with lots of wood and little water colour, these are PURE watercolour sticks. NO wastage whatsoever!! They're not cheap but they are more than worth their money. You're not paying to throw out , what? about 80% of what you buy in wood shavings?

I chose a beautiful Celtic cross design from Papermania as my base to watercolour. Remember not to use water based ink pads to stamp with if you're watercolouring or you'll just get a muddy mess rather than the vibrant colours. I use my trusty Stazon to stamp with.

This week I would like you to use a coaster or beer mat (or a chipboard of that shape if you don't have those to hand) these are also so versatile for use on cards, layouts and altering them.

Week 21 - Rosie's Challenge

Hello again from a very snowy north Northamptonshire. Wow, have we had some snow!!! If you've had some too then we hope you've stayed warm and safe.

My challenge this week is to use up some scraps. I, for one, are in a real scrap splurge kind of mood at the mo, so I want to see what you can make with yours.

Now, I have to say, that neither of us knew what project the other was doing. Turns out that we both made cards in the same colour scheme, and we both incorporated a butterfly!!! Spooky or what? HEHE! ;-)

Week 19 - Rosie's Challenge

Hello, it's Rosie here and it's Sunday again. Wow, doesn't the time fly when you're having fun?! HAHA!!!

Following on from Dee's challenge of 'Something Old, Something New' last week, I want you to continue the theme and create 'Something Borrowed, Something Blue'

Again, please remember that this can be anything that you want. A card; a scrapbook layout; a piece of altered art. What we really want you to do is to have fun and to enjoy creating a piece of work which you are proud to share with us. Don't forget to leave us a message here when you've made and blogged your art so that we can visit and leave you a great big cyber thank you!

My take on the challenge....

I used a 'borrowed' coaster that I'd inked up for another project so that'll have to be replaced now. Obviously the other part of this week's challenge is my use of 'blue'.

She used blue circles and a borrowed punch. The kit came from Indigo Mill, one of our previous sponsors btw.

Its my turn to do the challenge today, I hope you've all settled into the New Year well and everythings getting back to normal.

I would like you to use the following, something old and something new.

My Take - I used some old cardboard packaging and some new scraps from a gorgeous Indigo Mill kit

Rosie's Take

I used a piece of Dee's old packaging, some old patterned paper that was free donkey's ago in Scrapbook Inspirations Magazine and my new (t0 me) toy - a Dymo labelmaker. I also used an offcut of spotty ribbon and an offcut of hessian ribbon and an inkpad to complete the card.
